This archive is in the form of .gpx tracks of previous Kenilworth u3a walks. The tracks can be accessed here Click for Archive.
The file names begin with the starting place of the walks and then include any significant points on the route; this is followed by the date the walk took place and then the distance in miles (eg 4.9m).
To save any of the .gpx files to use on your own pc, right-click on the file name and select Download. This will save a copy of the file on to your pc. If you are using a mobile phone or tablet there will likely be three vertical dots at the end of the file name which will open a list of options from which you can select the Download option to save the file on to your device. Your mobile phone or tablet will probably automatically store it in a folder called Downloads.
To open the track on a pc, you will either need to have some walking mapping software already installed on your pc or will need to use an appropriate website such as Explore OS Maps , Outdooractive, Visorando™ or others. These websites will all require you to set up an account which is necessary to enable you to save your tracks. They will all try to sell you subscription plans with more features and access to better maps. A subscription may well be worthwhile particularly if it gives you access to 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey maps (these maps are best for walking as they show field boundaries). Subscriptions should be considered in conjunction with the providers’ phone apps which are invaluable for navigating your walk. Instructions are provided on how to use Visorando on a PC as Visorando will give access to 1:25,000 Ordance Survey maps for free. Click here for instructions Using Visorando on a PC.
To open and view the .gpx track on your phone or tablet, you will need a mapping app on your phone such as OS Maps, Outdooractive or Visorando which you can download from your app store. If you cannot figure out how to load a .gpx track in your app, the apps Help should tell you. You will be able to see the route on a map and use the app to show you exactly where you are when walking a particular track.
