The aim of this group is to develop a knowledge of philosophy by a combination of structured learning and informal discussion in a friendly and mutually supportive setting.

We are currently changing from a philosopher-based approach to one based on philosophical topics, such as ethics, free will etc. Members are invited to discuss their views and experiences relating to these issues, while hopefully linking these to philosophical propositions.

We are currently reviewing possible standard resources that members might find helpful. Three possibilities are the Usborne book “Philosophy for Beginners “, the Nicholas Fearn book “Philosophy - the latest answers to the oldest questions”, and the YouTube series “Crash Course Philosophy “. Group members are invited to propose others.
